Acme Sumanco, Fitzwilliam Street

Land assembly involving the purchase of the Acme Surmanco scissor works and adjoining properties with a view to developing a large scale major student accommodation scheme in Sheffield city centre.

The successful design revolutionised the local authority’s acceptance of city centre living schemes by incorporating 372 student bed spaces alongside a new outdoor piazza and retail / leisure offer connecting Fitzwilliam Street to Cavendish Street with Grade A office space above.

The site was sold to City Estates with the benefit of the new consents providing the planning precedent and viability template for the successful West One development
